（一）形容词、副词的比较级的含义
大多数形容词或副词有三个等级：原级、比较级和最高级
其中比较级表示“更……”，用于两者（人或事物）之间的比较，说明“前者比后者更（不）”

(二)形容词和副词比较级的构成
1.规则变化
单音节和部分双音节词
（1）一般在词尾加-er
tall→taller young→younger
（2）以字母e结尾的词, 在词尾加-r
nice→nicer large→larger
（3）重读闭音节词且词尾只有一个辅音字母, 双写辅音字母再加-er
big→bigger thin→thinner hot→hotter
（4）以“辅音字母+y”结尾的双音节词, 先把y改为i, 再加-er
funny→funnier early→earlier happy→happier
（5）多音节和部分双音节词在词前加more
beautiful→more beautiful

(三)形容词和副词比较级的常用句型
（1）两者进行比较，表示“一方比另一方更……”
①. A + be + 形容词比较级 + than + B
e.g.我比你高。I'm taller than you.
我比你更外向。I’m more outgoing than you.
②. A + 实义动词 + 副词比较级 + than + B
e.g. 汤姆比鲍勃跳得更高。Tom jumps higher than Jack.
我今天早晨起床比我妈妈还早。I got up earlier than my mother this morning.
Tina 比 Tara 唱得更大声。Tina sings more loudly than Tara 。
(2) 甲……是乙……的几倍
① “甲 + be + 倍数 + 形容词比较级 + than + 乙”
② “甲 + 实义动词 + 倍数 + 副词比较级 + than + 乙”
e.g. 这个房间的面积是那个房间的三倍大。
This room is three times bigger than that one.
(3)“比较级+ and +比较级”或“more and more + 原级（多音节或部分双音节词）”, 意为“越来越……” 。
天气变得越来越凉爽了。The day is getting cooler and cooler.
花儿越来越漂亮。The flowers are more and more beautiful.
(4)“the+比较级. . . , the+比较级. . . ”, 意为“越……, 就越……” 。
她越忙越感到高兴。The busier she is, the happier she feels.
(5)“the+比较级+of the two”, 意为“两者中较为……的” 。
简是两个女孩中较漂亮的。Jane is the more beautiful of the two girls.
（6）疑问词+ be + 形容词比较级，甲 or 乙？
哪一个更大，地球还是月球？ Which is bigger, the earth or the moon?
(7)疑问词 + 实义动词 + 副词比较级，甲or乙？
谁画得比较好，珍妮还是丹妮？ Who draws better , Jenny or Danny?

同级比较
两者进行比较，表示“A与B一样……”
1. A + be + as 形容词原形 + as + B
杰克与迈克一样滑稽。e.g. Jack is as funny as Mike.
2. A + 实义动词 + as 副词原形 + as + B
克莱尔与休起得一样早。e.g. Claire gets up as early as Sue.
表示两者之间没有差别时,使用句型：
主语(第一个人物) + 谓语动词 + as + 形容词/副词原级 + as + 第二个人物 +….
如：他和他妹妹一样兴奋。He is as excited as his younger sister.
表示第一个人比不上第二个人时，使用句型:
主语(第一个人物) + 谓语动词(否定式) + as / so + 形容词/副词原级 + as
e.g. 他没他妹妹那么兴奋。He is not so / as excited as his younger sister.
